So, it's been a long while since I've updated anything on this, life being life kept me from doing just about anything. But it's going back to normal now, so I've gotten back at it again. Ealier this week, I took an afternoon and finally cut some of the strips that I needed. This is what was really holding me up from getting anything done. If I had known it was going to go as smooth as it did, I may of done it earlier.... But! Now its done, and I can work on it in random bits when I get in the mood. No pics of any cutting, wasn't anything to really see.
With some people heading out for a practice in St. Phillips it was a hard day to stay home, but... I really wanted to get going. So I got up half “early”, picked up a few things I needed, and got at er!

Above is a box I rigged up for cutting the strips. I decided to scarf the pieces together through the thickness. 1 reason being, it creates a much stronger bond, giving the extra surface area, and 2, the join isnt as noticable. Not a huge concern of mine, cause I really dont care for looks. This boat is one to be paddled, and paddled hard. I expected alot of dents, scratches and patches, so a work of art it will not be.
Some of strips I had cut, Pine of the left, Cedar on the right. I picked these out of the bottom cause they were the longest I had. Shame givin how much I love the colour of this cedar. Some of my other stuff is much lighter...
Starter strip, and two strips on each side. I had a little trouble with the stern, funny given its got less angle then the bow... But, I think its under controll now, and I'm starting to get the hang of putting the strips on. Might have it down in time for the second boat!!
